Pengerang - Going back to Kampong Days

The First Trip of the year was to the little island close to Pulau Ubin, - Pengerang. Brought along our bikes there for a cycling trip. Part of the reason was to also look for Dear's uncle whom she met couple of years ago and also to pay a visit to this place since we have been putting it off for the longest time. As there was not a fixed boat schedule to Pengerang, we decided to reach there as early as possible to catch the first boat there. Swollen eyes due to the super early ride to Changi Village (10km). Set-off time is 6am.

We manage to reach Changi Jetty at around 7am, Enough Time for me to get breakfast and also rest a while, before we have enough people - 14 to be exact to make a Trip to Pengerang. A Cost Efficient Strategy. Luckily this wait was not too long. A Group of cyclist arrived not too long to make up the number, Cost us S$11 to make a trip to Malaysia. Add $2 if u have a bike with u.

It was a 45min ride to the Pengerang. A town in the Johor State. They call this place Sihuan - Aka 4th Bay. It was a rather uneventful ride. All of us were just waiting for the boat to arrive at the jetty. We sailed pass some construction where a water barrier is being built.

It was a rather long and uninteresting ride to Sihuan, i think it took us almost 2hours to reach town. Along the way, we are suppose to look for that Uncle which Dear use to visit him a couple of year back, but last we held, this area up to Sihuan is being planned for re-development into an industrial area and alot of the houses have seen moved uptown.

We stop by a coffee shop - a very oldies one indeed. First time I saw Chicken Eggs are white and the yolk are so big.

Pretty much today's protein Needs,

It was a pretty dry ride, nothing in sight except a few houses here and there as the place is being re-development to an industrial area, a lot of the houses are being torn down. Problem with Dear's Bike did not help. Seem like some gear problem as having problem riding fast on her bike. We manage to reach town before Lunch. We settle for this hotel. As the room are not ready yet, We settle the check-in process and went out for a ride around town and also to settle our Lunch

The Surrounding was pretty well surrounded with eateries and the seaside is a short bike ride away. Not a really busy and bustling town though.

We decided to try something that is not available in Singapore, Marrybrown Fast Food Restaurant, much like our local KFC, but of course the Chicken here in Malaysia still taste better. We choose a special seats, such seat can be hard to find as well in Singapore. Only here or in Bigger countries u will find cafe or eateries with Hanging swing Seats

The Chicken is just as good as KFC Malaysia. And like i say, donno why Malaysian Chicken are
more juicy and tender.

We went to the famous seafood restaurant - Jade Garden Seafood in town which we will be have our dinner here later. This is one of the highlights of visiting this place. Lots of Singaporean and Locals come here for seafood due to the attractive prices and the quality of food. They are famous for their crabs and lobster cuisine.

Look like a good place to chill later tonight. There is a billiard table and the weather is cool enough with ample fans around. Hopefully it is not too noisy later tonight

As it is still early, the Lunch Crowd have just ended their meal at the restaurant, we took a ride around the vicinity. It seem like they farm their own fish, just by looking at the environment.

The Authorities are smart enough to built a Boardwalk around the restaurant even though there isn't much of a view

We are actually facing the South China Sea, but they build some Water barrier to soften the waves on the shores

We came across this massage shop and decided to give it a try since we have so much time. I opt for the Back and Shoulder massage while Dear went for the foot massage. Turn out pretty good and cheap and just what we wanted for a long time since our bali trip.
We headed back to check-in to our hotel, settle in, wash up a bit before to set-off to have Dinner. We were famish by the time we reach the Restaurant. Lucky we were early and we got the whole place to our self choosing our crab and order a few more dishes. Crab is weight at 90MYR/Kg. Super cheap. The same one would have cost at least 60SGD/Kg in Singapore.

After a Satisfying Dinner, We decided to explore the boardwalk again as it is approaching sunset. There are quite a number of families enjoying their evening walk. Manage to ask someone to help us take photos
It was really an amazing Sunset Experience here. The Sun seem to be also "bigger"

Pretty nice walk with not much crowd. Wonder if this is a norm here. Quiet and sleepy town.

After the Sun have Set. We decide to chill at alfresco portion of the Restaurant where there is a KTV ongoing, some table singing their heart out..lol (Not in this Picture)

This is THE Place for chill at night as they isn't much activities in the other part of town. Beer and tidbits are available

We order our share and seat by the Sea enjoying evening breeze. Probably the best seats in the house if only they have a nice view here.

After a few session at the billiard table, we ended the night riding home. There isn't much of a demand for the billiard Table, so even though we kinda suck at the game. There isn't much eyes to look at us :-)

We decided to head back for the night ard 11pm. We trusted that it should be pretty safe here since not much people stay around here.
We decided to hire a cab to fetch us to the Jetty tomorrow and Dear's Bike is giving her problem and it is pretty long and boring ride back to the jetty.

The next morning started off with us looking for breakfast. Good Old Hawker Stall. Probably the only one here and is pretty crowded.

Order The Wantan Mee and 2 Timsum dishes - Changfen Hongkong Style

With Dessert - Chendol, Nice and Sweet.

Before leaving for the Jetty, we walk around some of the old shops. They have a very oldie feel to it. Selling biscuits and other stuff, kinda like CNY goodies.

As we need to fit 2 bikes into the Taxi, We dismantle on of the bike wheels (The Wheeler). Luckily Dear's bike is quite small and can easily fit into any car's boot. The Jouorney took about 15mins. Waited as usual at the jetty for the number of people to reach 15 before the boat will leave for Singapore and we have to thank this cyclist who make up the number. Pretty good racer bike they have with them, and they are ducked in full cyclist gear Completed with sunglasses to match

We ended the Trip with a Photo on the boat, courtesy of those bike rider
